Overview
Premier Health's 31st Annual Gastroenterology Symposium is designed especially for those physicians that care for patients with GI diseases. This includes the specialties and sub-special-ties of gastroenterology, hospital and office–based primary care physicians, medical students, fellows and residents, advanced practice and registered nurses, other allied healthcare providers, and administrators.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. To discuss recent developments in hepatology that impact liver transplantation, including advances in donor selection, surgical techniques, immunosuppressive therapies, and management of post-transplant complications, aiming to improve transplant outcomes and long-term patient survival.
  2. To update healthcare providers on recent advances in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of viral hepatitis, focusing on strategies for achieving viral suppression, preventing liver complications, and enhancing patient adherence to treatment regimens
  3. To provide an overview of current trends, diagnostic modalities, and treatment strategies for anal rectal diseases, including hemorrhoids, anal fissures, fistulas, and malignancies, aiming to improve diagnostic accuracy and optimize patient care.
  4. To investigate the potential applications of virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) in gastroenterology practice, including training, procedural simulation, patient education, and decision support, to enhance clinical outcomes and efficiency.
  5. To explore advanced diagnostic techniques and therapeutic options for patients with refractory and atypical gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), with an emphasis on personalized treatment approaches to improve symptom control and quality of life.
  6. To enhance understanding of the various pathologies affecting the gallbladder, including cholecystitis, gallstones, and polyps, and to discuss optimal management strategies ranging from conservative treatment to surgical intervention.
  7. To update healthcare providers on the latest guidelines and evidence-based strategies for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of Clostridioides difficile infection (C.Diff), aiming to reduce recurrence rates and improve patient recovery.
  8. To review current surgical options for obesity management, including indications, benefits, risks, and outcomes, with a focus on optimizing patient selection and post-operative care to achieve long-term weight loss and improvement in comorbidities.
  9. To educate primary care providers on the early recognition, appropriate initial management, and timely referral of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), thereby improving patient outcomes and reducing disease progression.
