Overview

Prep for EFM Certification by mastering FHR tracing interpretation, differentiating fetal acid-base statuses, applying in-utero resuscitation, relating FHR patterns to umbilical cord gases, and exploring adjunct fetal assessments. This prep course will be taught by Nancy O'Brien-Abel, MN, RNC-OB.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:


  1. Apply knowledge of fetal oxygenation and FHR regulation to interpretation and management of FHR tracings.
  2. Differentiate between FHR characteristics suggestive of normal fetal acid-base status versus abnormal acid-base status.
  3. Discuss the use of in-utero resuscitation measures for various FHR tracings.
  4. Relate FHR patterns and umbilical artery cord gases.
  5. Apply knowledge of pregnancy complications to develop plan of care based on EFM data.
  6. Discuss various adjunct fetal assessment methods to determine fetal well-being.

Additional Information
This course is a great way to prepare for the EFM certification exam. Participants will not take the certification test after the class. They will go to a testing center at a later scheduled date to take the exam.
