Overview
The Physician Wellness Series is an 8-week, facilitator-led series designed to strengthen physician well-being through reflection, skill-building, and peer connection. Each session follows a consistent structure beginning with a brief check-in and review of weekly objectives, followed by interactive discussions, experiential activities, and goal setting. The program progresses from foundational concepts of wellness and burnout awareness to more advanced topics such as emotional regulation, relational health, and professional meaning. Facilitators guide participants through practical tools like self-assessments, mindfulness exercises, and boundary-setting strategies while fostering an atmosphere of confidentiality, empathy, and mutual support. The curriculum culminates in the development of a personalized wellness plan that integrates insights gained throughout the series into sustainable professional and personal practices.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Participants will define and explain the core components of physician wellness (e.g., physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual domains) and apply evidence-based frameworks such as the Stanford WellMD model and Maslach Burnout Inventory to evaluate their personal well-being and professional risk factors.
  2. Participants will implement and analyze the effectiveness of practical strategies for enhancing well-being—such as mindfulness practices, boundary-setting techniques, and resilience-building exercises—within their clinical and academic environments.
  3. Participants will evaluate the relationship between physician wellness, clinical performance, and patient outcomes, and create a personalized wellness action plan that integrates sustainable habits and aligns with individual and institutional goals for professional fulfillment.

Accreditation
Wright State University (WSU) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. WSU designated this CME activity for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
